Before you can follow a route in OutdoorActive you must download the route to your phone.

This is so that you are not dependent on the phone signal, where there is no Internet.

Failing to download may mean that you end up with a blank map.

However, even with a blank map you will have your route as a red line and a flashing blue dot indicating your position.

By keeping the blue dot on the red line you can navigate the route.

This, however, is not recommended!

Following the route requires GPS but this is effectively 100% available as long as you are not in a building.

Finally, if you can't download the route before you leave home, be sure to have a map as backup, preferably showing the intended route.

To download a route you first need:

  • OutdoorActive installed on your phone with a user account logged in.
  • It is recommended that you upgrade to the Pro version of OutdoorActive to ensure you can download the map before leaving home.

To download, open the route in the Outdooractive phone app.

Versions my vary but generally there is a menu button (a circle containg three dots) which will contain the option "download".

Choose "Save offline without images" - saving images can take a lot of time!

If the route has been downloaded the menu option will now say "saved" instead of "download".
